Would you like to find out where housing is going / can go / might go / should go? Check out the ‘Residentialism: Homes of the Future’ seminar at BUILDEX on February 20th, where Allison will be joined by three inspiring architects manifesting change in Vancouver. The presenters include Tim Ankenman from Ankenman Marchand Architects (currently pioneering the concept of CoHousing), Greg Borowski from Merrick Architecture (visionary multi-family and mixed-use architect of projects such as Millenium Water), Bruce Carscadden of Bruce Carscadden Architect (architect of the award winning Micro Lofts and the recently launched monograph ‘Carscadden Thrift’), and of course Allison Holden-Pope from One SEED (you may have heard of her…architect of The Ridiculously Small (eco) Footprint House and the OneSEED Passive House Prototype?). The seminar is presented by the AIBC, and we were honoured to be asked to join this prestigious panel of architects.
Details: Early bird tickets are $35 (before Feb. 5th), regular $45, and can be purchased on the BUILDEX website by selecting seminar code ‘T24’. The seminar will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre West on Thursday, February 20 from 3:00pm – 4:30pm, and has been approved for the following education credits 1.5 AIBC Core Learning Units or 1.5 BOMI CPDs. We hope to see you there, as we are going to make it a good one!
We have decided to keep the particulars of our presentation under wraps, but we promise to make it entertaining, thought provoking and informative. It should not be missed! Here is the description from the BUILDEX website. We may or may not stick to it…“Like it or not, demographics are shaping our world. Increasingly, that shifting reality is reflected in where and how people choose to reside. For the creators of those residences, the considerations and integrations have become more complex: technology; energy needs; socialization; mobility; quality of life; the further blending of workplace and home space; a radical shift in what constitutes a family. It all calls for fresh ideas, new forms and innovative functionality. This session will offer a peek at the possibilities.”
