The Winter 2015 issue of Design Quarterly Magazine has hit the stands, with an article by One SEED’s Allison Holden-Pope. The piece entitled “Choosing Transformation Over Demolition” looks at when a renovation is the better choice, with concepts illustrated by our Gathering House project. The construction process, from demolition through the build itself, is exceedingly harmful to the environment, and therefore choosing a renovation over a new build, can mitigate this negative impact by limiting scope.
The article provides tips on three principles for a successful renovation: look at your wish list creatively, work with what you have, and have fun with some dramatic changes. Read the full article here.
